On November 08th, 2016, a delegation of Australian Water Association (AWA) comprising more than 30 members led by Mr. Peter Moore-Association’s President- had a working visit at Binh Duong Water-Environment Joint Stock Company (BIWASE). There were representatives and some members from Viet Nam Water Supply-Sewerage Association (VWSA) joining with the delegation.

The delegation were warmly welcomed by BIWASE’s Director board and leaders of subsidiaries and hosted by Mr. Nguyen Van Thien-BIWASE’s President. The delegation to BIWASE with a purpose on getting to know about BIWASE’s organization structure, business fields and its strong points, then a proper twinning plan for BIWASE and WANNON will be proposed to a Twinning Programe preapared by VWSA and AWA.

The twinning and exchange programme includes a work plan which typically runs for 12-18 months, with some exchange visits required as a part of the partnership. The work plan would be project based and focus on areas such as water quality treatment and implementation of safetywater plans, non-revenue water, asset management, integrated information systems and human resource development.

At the meeting, on behalf of BIWASE, Mr. Nguyen Van Thien-BIWASE’s President- had a brief introduction on BIWASE’s establishment and development, on current production, business as well as some significant achievements obtained by BIWASE within the last 20 years. Mr. Gary McLay-WANNON’s Director (Australia) -also made a general introduction on WANNON Water Supply Company, some fields in WANNON’S interest and hoped to be shared with BIWASE in this twinning programe.

On this occation, the delegation also visited Di An Water Treatment Plant, the biggest and most advanced WTP of BIWASE, so as toknow more about BIWASE’s utilities as well as water treatment technology applied in BIWASE in particular and Viet Nam in general.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Gary McLay on behalf on the delegation, expressed his sincere thanks to BIWASE’s Director board for welcoming the delegation and he also highly appreciated BIWASE’s current ability as well as future potential . He hoped that the twinning programe between BIWASE and WANNON will bring much new success for the two companies during cooperation and development period.
