BIWASE Breaks Ground on 3 Projects in Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone with a Total Investment of 1,238 Billion VND
On the morning of February 27, BIWASE (ticker BWE – HoSE) simultaneously broke ground on three projects in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, including the Ho Cua Can Water Plant, the Bai Bon Waste Treatment Zone, and the Bai Bon Waste-to-Energy Plant.
The Ho Cua Can Water Plant, with a total investment of 556 billion VND, is being constructed on an area of approximately 3.6 hectares with a designed capacity of 49,500 m³/day. The project utilizes advanced water treatment technologies such as suspended sludge blanket reactors, lamella clarifiers, and a two-tier HDPE filtration system, ensuring that the clean water meets the QCVN 01-1:2024/BYT standards. The facility not only meets the domestic needs of residents and tourists but also contributes to ensuring long-term water security for the rapidly developing coastal city.

Mr. Tran Chien Cong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of BIWASE, emphasized that these are essential infrastructure works serving the socio-economic development goals of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, while simultaneously preparing for upcoming major events, including the APEC 2027 Summit..
Parallel to the clean water project, BIWASE is implementing two key environmental projects in Bai Bon. The Bai Bon Waste Treatment Zone covers an area of 15 hectares with a capacity of 250 tons/day and a total investment of 382 billion VND, expected to be completed and put into operation on December 31, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Bai Bon Waste-to-Energy Plant is being built on an area of 10 hectares with a treatment capacity of 200–300 tons of waste/day, a power generation capacity of 4 MW, and a total investment of about 300 billion VND, expected to be operational before February 28, 2027.
Mr. Le Trung Ho, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, emphasized at the event that the APEC 2027 Summit is a political and diplomatic event of exceptional importance to the country. The selection of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone as the host venue demonstrates the immense trust of the Central Government, while simultaneously placing a heavy responsibility on An Giang province and the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone in preparing the necessary conditions to serve the Summit..
According to him, the projects breaking ground today hold tremendous significance, not only ensuring essential infrastructure items for APEC 2027 but also laying a long-term foundation for the sustainable development of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone in particular and An Giang province in general.

BIWASE General Director Tran Chien Cong further shared that the projects utilize modern waste incineration technology, complying with current planning and environmental standards, aimed at thoroughly treating domestic solid waste in the area. Particularly, the waste-to-energy model is considered a step forward toward a circular economy, transforming waste into a renewable energy source.
The simultaneous groundbreaking of these three large-scale projects demonstrates BIWASE's commitment to synchronously investing in water supply and waste treatment systems, contributing to environmental protection and enhancing the quality of urban infrastructure in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone.
