Kick - off ceremony of 24 MW Biwase Waste - to - Energy Plant
Attending the inauguration ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, former Member of the Politburo, former State President; General Le Hong Anh, former Member of the Politburo, former Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat; Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Binh Duong Province; Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Duong Province; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep, Chairman of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association; leaders of central ministries, departments, and agencies; leaders from other provinces and cities; along with leaders and former leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and various departments and agencies of Binh Duong Province.
Every day, approximately 3,000 tons of domestic and industrial waste are transported to the Binh Duong Waste Treatment Complex. Instead of landfilling, BIWASE chooses to 'revitalize' the waste, transforming this burden into useful products such as organic fertilizer, bricks, and concrete. This approach aims for sustainable development, following the direction of the Binh Duong provincial leadership..
Waste has long been a nightmare for many localities, draining significant time and government resources for its treatment. However, in Binh Duong, provincial leaders have provided appropriate direction aligned with the policies of the Party and the State to treat waste in a scientific and sustainable manner. Here, waste marks the beginning of a journey of rebirth - not through magic, but through science, driven by experienced technology experts and the strong determination of BIWASE’s workforce.

With the successful launch of the first 5MW Waste-to-Energy plant on January 12, 2024, BIWASE has made a strong mark on the path of transforming waste into clean resources. What makes this achievement unique is that every stage - from design and construction to equipment procurement and installation - was executed entirely in-house by BIWASE’s own team of engineers. Now, over 18 months since its inauguration, the plant continues to operate successfully as planned. All metrics related to safety, environmental compliance, generation efficiency, and ash treatment have met or exceeded expectations.
Nevertheless, BIWASE always maintains a spirit of eagerness to learn, seriously reviewing every aspect of operations to strive for perfection. This approach has opened doors for the Company to connect with providers of breakthrough technologies and solutions. These connections pave the way for our next major investment, a larger plant with a capacity increasing from 200 to 500 tons per day, capable of generating 12MW of electricity.
BIWASE has selected three key equipment suppliers for the project, including: SIEMENS for the turbine generator set, CNIM MARTIN for the waste incinerator, and ISGEC for the boiler.

BIWASE's staff is responsible for the design, architectural finishing, civil works, mechanical equipment installation, and operation. The equipment is expected to be delivered to the construction site between July 2025 and March 2026, and the project is projected to be completed during the 2025-2026 timeframe.
With a total investment of $45 million (about VND 1,150 billion), the project processes 500 tons of waste per day and generates 12MW of electricity. This serves as the initial phase of a larger project targeting a total capacity of 24MW. Utilizing the latest technology, post-combustion ash residue is controlled at no more than 12%, significantly lower than the 16 -17% level found in existing plants in Vietnam.
This demonstrates BIWASE’s efforts to optimize machinery and equipment, design a waste-to-energy power plant in Bình Dương, minimize environmental impacts, and recycle ash and slag into construction materials instead of landfilling, in line with the circular economy model encouraged by the Government.
This is BIWASE’s second waste-to-energy power plant, with an incineration capacity of 500 tons per day, equivalent to 12 MW, which will further contribute to the success of achieving technological self-reliance in waste-to-energy solutions, delivering high-efficiency power generation from waste with the lowest ash and slag ratio in Vietnam.
On behalf of the leadership of Binh Duong Province, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, highly commended the efforts of environmental enterprises in the province, particularly BIWASE as a pioneering organization with many projects of strong practical significance in the fields of clean water and environmental protection. The 12 MW waste-to-energy plant project launched today stands as clear evidence of a proactive spirit of innovation, strong implementation capacity, and a long-term vision for sustainable development. The project employs modern technological equipment supplied by internationally experienced partners such as CNIM MARTIN, ISGEC, and SIEMENS, while the overall design, installation, and operation are directly undertaken by BIWASE’s technical staff. With a waste treatment capacity of 500 tons per day and an electricity output of 12 MW, the project not only helps reduce pressure on urban environmental infrastructure but also provides a source of green energy and contributes to the realization of Binh Duong Province’s green growth strategy. This represents a highly encouraging step forward, reaffirming local internal capabilities in the fields of environmental management and renewable energy.
The provincial leadership commits to continuing their support and creating the most favorable conditions regarding regulatory frameworks, administrative procedures, and infrastructure to ensure the project is implemented on schedule, safely, and effectively.
