On July 22nd, at Binh Duong PPC’s office, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of the PPC and HE. Simon Van De Burg, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City-representing for the Netherlands Government-Sponsor (ODA) of Construction of wastewater treatment system in Tan Uyen, Thuan An, Di An districts project, signed a Grant Agreement for implementation and operation & maintenance phases of this project under an Infrastructure Development ORIO Support of the Netherlands Government. Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Director General of Binh Duong Water Supply Sewerage Environment Co., Ldt (BIWASE), the Project Owner, other stakeholders, leaders of local departments and related districts also attended to witness this Grant Agreement signing ceremony.

Total project value is 12 mil. Euro, with objectives to collect wastewater in an area of 1,193 ha from Di An, Thuan An, Tan Uyen districts, in which comprising 229 small enterprises and 19,200 households directly connected into the public wastewater treatment system. Capacity of phase I is 15,000m3/day and total capacity of all plants is 45,000m3/day. The project aims to protect the environment and community’s health, forwarding to build a friendly and sustainably developing Binh Duong city.

Expressing at the signing ceremony, the PPC Chairman –Mr. Tran Thanh Liem- emphasized: industrial development together with environmental protection is a focused issue receiving much attention from provincial leaders. However, due to limited local budget, the province must give priority on investing some necessary fields such as: education, medical care, transportation, that is the reason why it has to use international loan to invest on environmental protection and provincial development. Binh Duong leaders are so happy and grateful for support from the Consul General and his colleagues who have contributed to strengthening this relationship, improving effectiveness of Viet Nam-Holland cooperation. Binh Duong province committee that the project will be taken into operation soon with high quality as committed. Throughout the Consul General, Binh Duong PPC’s leader would like to give his sincere thanks to the Netherlands Government who have been supporting Binh Duong province.
