Inauguration ceremony of Nhi Thanh Water Plant – Phase 3 (Capacity Expansion to 120,000 m³/day)
Biwase - Long An Water Joint Stock Company has been implementing the Nhi Thanh Water Plant Project - Phase 3 (investing to increase capacity to 120,000 m³/day) since October 2024. To date, the overall construction progress has reached 85%. Completion and commissioning are expected by September 2025:
The main components of the project include:
1. Water Treatment Plant: Capacity of 60,000 m³/day (Phase 3).
2. Raw Water Transmission Pipeline: D1200mm pipeline from the Raw Water Pumping Station to Nhi Thanh Water Plant, with a total length of 13.5 km.
3. Treated Water Transmission Pipeline: D1200mm pipeline from Nhi Thanh Water Plant to Ben Luc Town, with a total length of 10 km.
Construction Challenges
Since the project's official commencement in October 2024, the implementation process has faced numerous difficulties and challenges:
1. Construction during the Rainy Season - Racing Against the Weather
Commencing construction during the rainy season presented significant obstacles for pipe installation and underground works. Faced with soft soil conditions and high groundwater levels, the construction unit was required to strictly implement temporary reinforcement measures to ensure both progress and occupational safety..

2. Challenges regarding Site Clearance and Technical Infrastructure
The transmission pipeline route traverses many existing residential areas where the sidewalk corridors contain dense technical infrastructure systems, such as power cables, telecommunication cables, and drainage channels. Additionally, it intersects with private land where site clearance has not yet been completed. The process of negotiating compensation and site clearance for land, crops, and architectural structures is time-consuming, as it directly involves the interests of residents and business households. Consequently, the handover of the construction site has faced numerous difficulties and significant delays.

3. Ensuring Traffic Safety and Minimizing Impact on Residents
Constructing the clean water pipeline along National Highway 1A - an area characterized by high traffic density and constrained working space - required the contractor to ensure that road and sidewalk excavations were not prolonged. It was crucial to avoid disrupting residents' daily activities and businesses while steering clear of peak traffic hours; therefore, night construction was implemented to shorten the project timeline.
