28 11-2024

When maintaining a water loss rate at an impressive 5%, Biwase has been implementing a strategy to expand its reach to other provinces through investment cooperation.

At the 16th Vietnam M&A Forum 2024, organized by Vietnam Investment Review under the guidance and sponsorship of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on the afternoon of November 27, the Binh Duong Water – Environment Corporation – Joint Stock Company (Biwase) was honored with the award for "Outstanding M&A Deal of the Year 2023-2024."

During the 2023-2024 period, Biwase has actively pursued its strategy of expansion by extending its water supply operations to several provinces across the country, including Long An, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Quang Binh, Vinh Long, and other regions. This was achieved by investing capital into local water supply entities, while simultaneously supporting partners in restructuring management processes, upgrading pipeline systems, enhancing customer service quality, and, most notably, injecting additional capital to modernize water treatment plants with the latest advanced technologies.

BIWASE Honored as "Enterprise with the Outstanding M&A Deal of 2023-2024"

For instance, in 2024 alone, Biwase and its partners invested in Saigon-Can Tho Water Joint Stock Company, the entity managing the Saigon-Mekong Water Plant project with a Phase 1 capacity of 25,000 m³/day-night. The project was reactivated, and further capital contributions are planned to increase the total capacity to 50,000 m³/day-night. Additionally, Biwase invested VND 804.9 billion, equivalent to a 43% ownership stake, in Tan Hiep Water Investment Joint Stock Company, becoming its largest shareholder. Tan Hiep Water Investment is the developer of the Tan Hiep 2 Water Plant, which has a capacity of 300,000 m³/day-night and has been operational since 2016 in Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City

Speaking on the sidelines of the M&A Forum with Vietnam Investment Review reporters, Mr. Tran Tan Duc, Deputy General Director of Biwase, shared insights into Biwase’s M&A activities. He stated that when Biwase engages with water supply entities, it provides tailored restructuring solutions based on the actual conditions of each entity to enhance operational efficiency

In Long An, Biwase not only contributed additional capital to increase the capacity of water plants but also deployed experienced personnel to redesign water pipelines from the plants to households. This initiative helped reduce water loss rates while enhancing customer service with Biwase's professional support.

For projects in Can Tho, such as the Saigon-Mekong Water Plant project, Biwase and its partners injected additional capital to restart the project. They also collaborated with local authorities to develop an integrated water supply system, laying the groundwork for attracting investment and improving residents' quality of life.

"The solutions Biwase provides to its partners have significantly enhanced business performance, improved water supply service quality, and minimized water loss rates to the lowest possible level (targeting below 5%)," emphasized Mr. Trần Tấn Đức

It is known that Biwase has established a comprehensive clean water pipeline network throughout Binh Duong province, covering an area of 2,694 km², as well as in several other localities. The system has a maximum capacity of 1 million m³/day-night, supported by eight water treatment clusters that utilize surface water from two major rivers, the Dong Nai River and the Saigon River. This network ensures water supply even to remote and rural areas of Binh Duong province

Building on its success in Binh Duong, Biwase is continuously expanding its business and investment operations to other provinces such as Can Tho, Dong Nai, Long An, Quang Binh, Vinh Long, and several others.
