The water supply companies were established to ensure water supply for nearly 3 million Ho Chi Minh City residents in the Binh Duong area.

On the evening of May 15, in Binh Duong Ward, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee witnessed the launching ceremony of 5 water supply companies for the northern area of Ho Chi Minh City (the former Binh Duong province area) and the Tay Ninh province area (consolidated from the former Tay Ninh and Long An provinces). 

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh, representatives of Ho Chi Minh City's departments and agencies, and former leaders of Binh Duong province attended the event.

The 5 water supply companies include 4 companies established by restructuring the branches of Binh Duong Water - Environment Corporation - Joint Stock Company (BIWASE) in the former Binh Duong area, namely: BIWASE Di An Water One Member Limited Company, BIWASE KLH Binh Duong Water One Member Limited Company, BIWASE Tan Uyen Water One Member Limited Company, and BIWASE Bau Bang Water One Member Limited Company. 

In addition, there is BIWASE Tay Ninh Water Joint Stock Company, established through capital investment in provincial water supply companies.

The aforementioned water supply companies belong to Binh Duong Water - Environment Corporation - Joint Stock Company (BIWASE), formerly a state-owned enterprise that has now been equitized and listed on the stock exchange under the ticker symbol BWE.

The water supply capacity for the 36 communes and wards of Ho Chi Minh City in the former Binh Duong area currently reaches approximately 800,000 m³/day, generating a revenue of nearly 2,600 billion VND/year.

The restructuring and establishment of these water supply companies aim to ensure the water supply for nearly 3 million residents and dozens of industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City's former Binh Duong area, while simultaneously enhancing governance efficiency. 

These water supply companies inherit multiple synchronously invested, large-capacity water plants. These facilities were funded not only by domestic capital but also supported by ODA loans, featuring an efficient, self-repaying operational mechanism that meets the demands of both industrial development and the daily lives of residents.

Ho Chi Minh City, which was consolidated from the former Ho Chi Minh City, the former Binh Duong province, and the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on July 1, 2025, is now the largest metropolis in the country. Following this consolidation, the Binh Duong area continues to be oriented and planned as the "production zone" of Ho Chi Minh City and the entire nation, featuring numerous large industrial parks.

The investment in large-capacity clean water supply infrastructure for both domestic use and production, coupled with drainage, wastewater treatment, and solid waste treatment systems, has fulfilled the crucial requirements for environmental protection and socio-economic development.
